New Queensland Poll shows state LNP and federal Labor in strong positions

The LNP is holding on to its election-winning lead in Queensland while Anthony Albanese has boosted his performance nationally, according to two new polls released today.

Political polling and market research company DemosAU surveyed 1,027 Queensland voters from 04 to 09 July on their state and federal voting intentions and response to the Queensland budget.

The LNP state primary vote recorded 40% (-1.5% swing from 2024 election) and 55% on a two-party preferred basis (+1.2%).

Labor’s vote declined further from its 2024 election result, with a 28% primary vote (-4.6% swing) and 45% TPP.

The Greens and One Nation recorded elevated primary votes of 13% and 12% respectively.

Questions about the state budget indicated a largely neutral public reaction. Despite this a plurality of voters believed the Labor opposition could not deliver a better budget.

However, 30% of Queenslanders felt their own personal situation would be worse off in the next 12 months as a result of the budget, compared to 11% who felt they would be better off.

On the federal front, Queensland voters backed Albanese, with Labor recording a primary vote of 35% (4% from the 2025 federal election) and TPP of 53% (3.6% swing).

In a separate DemosAU national poll published last week Labor’s TPP lead grew to 59% (3.8% swing from the 2025 election) and a primary vote of 36% (1.4% swing).

DemosAU Head of Research George Hasanakos said both Crisafulli and Albanese were both enjoying honeymoon periods.

“Crisafulli is holding on to his election-winning lead, even though his government’s first budget has not moved the dial much with the Queensland public,” Hasanakos said.

“And the national picture for Albanese is looking even rosier, with a national two-party preferred vote which is very much at the high end for Labor.”

The Queensland poll of 1,027 voters published 10 July 2025 was conducted via internet panel from 04 to 09 July. The margin of error was +/- 3.6%. 

The federal poll published 9 July 2025 of 1,199 voters was conducted via internet panel from 05 – 06 July. The margin of error was +/- 3.6%.
