DemosAU has delivered another strong result with its 2026 South Australian election polling, producing a high level of accuracy compared to the final election result.

The final DemosAU/Ace Strategies poll, published exclusively in InDaily on 20 March, recorded the Labor vote at 37.0% compared to an actual result of 37.5%, One Nation at 23.0% versus 22.9%, Liberal at 17.0% versus 18.9%, Greens at 11.0% versus 10.4%, and Others at 12.0% versus 10.3%. 

Our poll came within 0.5pp of Labor’s result, 0.1pp of One Nation, 1.9pp of the Liberals, 0.6pp of the Greens and 1.7pp of Others. Overall DemosAU remained within 0.1pp to 1.9pp across all parties.

DemosAU Director Evan Schwarten said: “With all electorate counts now complete, the accuracy of our polling underscores DemosAU’s continued strength in election polling. 

“This is a very high level of accuracy in what was an especially challenging election to poll due to the unprecedented surge in support for One Nation,” Mr Schwarten said.

“It’s a strong validation of our methodological approach and the work we continue to put into delivering reliable, high-quality polling.”

DemosAU Head of Research George Hasanakos said: “While every election is unique, the South Australian election, with the rise of One Nation, was a new political environment to poll.

“This result marks another strong showing for DemosAU and reinforces its position as one of Australia’s most accurate and consistent polling organisations.”

Mr Schwarten also acknowledged the broader polling industry, noting that several firms performed strongly in the South Australian election.

“Congratulations also to our fellow Australian Polling Council members Fox & Hedgehog, YouGov and Pyxis Polling and Insights, who all provided accurate polling as well,” he said.

“Australia is generally very well served by a reliable polling industry, compared to other countries—particularly among those committed to the standards upheld by the APC.”
